Welcome Back

Wow.... all I can say is... a LOT can happen in a year! My last post was about offering information during the time of the Covid 19 pandemic, when schools were closing and shut down. To say that this school year has been a roller coaster is saying something.... every day felt like we were doing something new and different.

I've had some really down and intense moments of stress and frustration and I've had some really high peaks and amazing memories that I wouldn't trade for the world. Instead of focusing on the negative, I want to share one of the biggest accomplishments of my professional career.

This year, for the 2020-2021 school year, I was nominated as Teacher of the Year for Riverton Intermediate School:

I am extremely proud of this award and am so thankful that I work in such an amazing school with such wonderful people.  I truly could not do my job without the support of such an awesome admin team and staff.  Thank you, RIS, for believing in me and with entrusting me with your students. I am truly honored and humbled.

It was too much at the end of last school year and for most of this school year to chronicle what this journey has been like.  Mostly, in part, because every day seemed like it was bringing change and new obstacles.  The school year truly felt impossible and yet, with perseverance and support from the amazing staff and families that I work with, we made it happen.  I hope to close out this school year by posting some of my favorite highlights and things that I did this year, therapy-wise, that I intend to include or adapt for future use in upcoming school years.

We learned a lot together this year, RIS, and we have a lot more to go, but one thing is for sure: this is my dream job. Thank you to everyone that helped make this a reality.
