All About Eve

Who am I? I am Eve, nice to meet you! I am sometimes affectionately called Evie by friends and family members, so I thought Speechie Evie was kind of a fun combination for my new website.  As you explore this blog and my writings with me, you may find that I am not your typical gal!

I hold a Bachelor's of Fine Arts, emphasis in dance, first minor in folk studies from Western Kentucky University in 2002.  It was then that I also got heavily involved in yoga, and was certified from the Southern Institute for Yoga Instructors in 2004.  This background in dance, proprioceptive movement, and yoga has heavily set the foundation and influenced my clinical practices in communication disorders to this very day.

I graduated with my masters degree from Western Kentucky University in communication disorders (August 2013).  I love the field of communication disorders, and how exciting it can be to aid those in their efforts to communicate and integrate language... to exchange ideas, add meaning and content to the world is something that I find powerful and vitally important.  I have three years of experience in a school setting as an SLP-A (speech-language pathology assistant) which is what inspired me to return to school and get an education in communication disorders. During my graduate work I was a toddler teacher (2+ years) for a childcare center. I am currently the Speech-Language Pathologist, CCC-SLP at a local intermediate school (4th - 6th grades) and my hope is that this blog can serve as way to share my experiences in this amazing field with others.
